A business accelerator system must include a financial component able to provide the initial resources (and the development capital in the subsequent phases) to high tech start-ups and spin-offs in a phase of the life cycle in which it is not easy to find investors.

Filarete Investimenti is the Investment (seed and development capital) and Holding company of the Foundation that shall perform this role. The primary target for investments will be spin-offs or other start-ups connected to the research and development activities of the Filarete platforms.

Filarete Investimenti shall take part in the initial phases of financing but shall also promote the search for other co-investors and in general of other financial resources (risk capital and possibly debt capital) necessary to ensure, also in the most advanced stages, the growth process of new entrepreneurs - scientists.

As a general rule, the subsidiary companies of Filarete shall be hosted at the Accelerator, in order to make use of its scientific and management support services. In this sense, the support process shall be all-round, from project evaluation, to support in the setting up of spin-offs, to their financing and to scientific, technological and market development.

The capital of the company is open to third party investors to guarantee an adequate collection of financial resources. Project evaluation is performed by the Scientific Advisory Board of the Foundation and approved by the Board of Directors of the Company. Investments will have to be in line with the objectives of return of the shareholders on an horizon of 3-5 years.
